WSNMS basketball sweeps Brewton Tuesday at home

Winning streaks and losing streaks were extended and ended Tuesday night in East Brewton as the W.S. Neal Middle School basketball teams defeated Brewton Middle School’s teams.
The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles defeated Brewton’s Lady Tigers 26-22 while the Eagle boys defeated the Tigers of Brewton 33-23.
With the win for the Lady Eagles, W.S. Neal ended a four-game losing streak to improve to 3-4 while the Lady Tigers saw their four-game win streak end as they dropped to 4-3.
With the win for the Eagles, W.S. Neal Middle School increased their winning streak to five games and improved to 5-2 while the Tigers of Brewton Middle School saw their two-game win streak end and fell to 3-4.
W.S. Neal’s teams are scheduled to play at home Thursday against Flomaton. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
Brewton Middle School will be back in action Thursday as they travel to Repton. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
WSNMS Lady Eagles 26, BMS Lady Tigers 22
With the game tied at 17-17 heading into the fourth quarter Tuesday in East Brewton, the Lady Eagles of W.S. Neal Middle School outscored Brewton Middle School’s Lady Tigers 9-5 in the fourth quarter to get a 26-22 win.
W.S. Neal started the game on a 7-0 run over the Lady Tigers to lead by seven after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, the Lady Tigers clawed their back into the game as they cut into the Lady Eagle lead by one point outscoring W.S. Neal 7-6 in the quarter to trail 13-7 at the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers scored 10 points and held W.S. Neal to four to tie the game at 17-17 before falling in the fourth quarter by four points to take the loss.
For W.S. Neal in the win, KeKe Floyd led with 11 points and Tiffany Robinson finished with eight points. Alexis Morrison added five points and Dee Dee Lawson chipped in two points in the win.
For Brewton, Emonea Curry led with 10 points and was followed by Tempest Thompson’s eight. Mekia Williams and Anilah Brazille both had two points in the loss.
WSNMS Eagles 33, BMS Tigers 23
In boys action Tuesday, W.S. Neal earned a 10-point win over Brewton Middle School 33-23.
W.S. Neal outscored Brewton 10-4 in the first quarter but Brewton returned the favor in the second quarter as they outscored the Eagles 10-5 to trail 15-14 at the half.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal held Brewton to three points while pouring in 10 of their own to increase their lead by seven points over the Tigers, 25-17.
In the fourth quarter, W.S. Neal edged out Brewton 8-6 to get the win by 10.
For Brewton in the loss, Chardian Johnson led with 11 points and Devonte Peterson had eight in the loss. Tamerick Jenkins chipped in four points in the loss.
For W.S. Neal, Dalton Shell led the team as he finished in double figures with 17 points. Lane Chavers added seven points and TyShawn Davis and Dakota Graves had three points each. Malcolm Hawthorne added two points in the win and Treylon Watson had one.
