WSNMS basketball falls to Jay Wednesday

In their next to last basketball game of the season Wednesday at Jay, both the W.S. Neal Middle School boys and girls basketball teams lost to the Royals.
The Lady Eagles lost 39-30 to fall to 3-6 this season while the Eagle boys fell 34-33 to drop to 6-3.
W.S. Neal will be back in action in their season finale today, Thursday, at 1 p.m. against McCall.
Jay 39, WSNMS Lady Eagles 30
A big first quarter in favor of Jay was the difference in the game Wednesday as the Lady Eagles lost by nine points, 39-30.
W.S. Neal was outscored by 15 points in the first quarter, 17-2, to fall behind early in the game. The Lady Eagles responded in the second quarter with a 10-4 rally to cut the lead to 21-12 at the half.
The Lady Eagles would continue their rally in the third quarter as they cut into the lead by three points with a 10-7 advantage in the quarter to cut the lead to 28-22 heading into the fourth. In the fourth, Jay ended the game on an 11-8 run to get the win by nine points.
KeKe Floyd led W.S. Neal in the game with 10 points and Alexis Morrison added six. Tiffany Robinson and Alyssa English had four points each and Dee Dee Lawson, Haleigh Dubose and Taylor Burns all had two points in the loss.
Jay 34, WSNMS Eagles 33
Leading by five points after three quarters, 26-21, W.S. Neal was outscored 13-7 in the fourth quarter to lose by one point to Jay, 34-33.
The Eagles led 5-2 after the first quarter and 15-11 at the half following a 10-9 advantage in the second quarter.
In the third, W.S. Neal increased their lead by one point to five points as they edged out Jay 11-10 in the quarter to claim a 26-21 lead heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, Jay outscored the Eagles 13-7 to get the win by one point.
TyShawn Davis led W.S. Neal with 13 points and Lane Chavers added nine. Dalton Shell chipped in five points and Malcolm Hawthorne, Dakota Graves and Treylon Watson all had two points each in the loss.
