Baseball camps to be held in coming weeks

Three area baseball clinic/camps will be held for area athletes in the coming weeks.
Locally, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team and head coach Darrell Blevins will have their Most Valuable Player Winter Baseball Camp Wednesday, Dec. 21 and Thursday, Dec. 22. The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon for players ages six through 18.
The camp will be held at Warhawk field on the campus of JDCC in Brewton and will be $35 per camper if registered before Friday, Dec. 16. A price of $40 will be charged if registered on the day of the camp. Lunch will be not included. Campers are to bring a bat, glove, batting gloves, baseball cap, baseball pants or sweat pants, baseball shoes and sneakers.

Also, the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association (ALABCA) will hold itβs inaugural instructional baseball clinic for ninth and 12th grade baseball players on Saturday, December 17, at Bases Loaded Facility near Montevallo. On-site registration/pre-clinic registration check-in runs from 7:45 β 8:45 a.m.
The cost is $110 per player on-site fee (if the players head coach is an ALABCA member) and $120 (if the players head coach is not an ALABCA member).
Colleges who have committed to have a coach there to work the 9 a.m. β 4 p.m. clinic: Alabama, Auburn, Samford, UAB, South Alabama, Troy, Jacksonville State, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Huntingdon, Montevallo, Shelton State, Central Alabama, Wallace-Hanceville, Lawson State and Calhoun Community College. A Boston Red Sox and New York Mets scout will also work the clinic.

In Poarch, the Poarch Creek Wellness and Activities Department and En Fuego Baseball is hosting a baseball clinic Wednesday, Dec. 28. The camp, which is open to athletes ages 7-17 years old, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the PCI Wellness and Activities Department at the Arrowhead Sports Complex.
The fee for the camp will be $35.
