Putt-Putt coming to Brewton?

Published 11:07 am Tuesday, December 20, 2011

How many times have you heard from your child, your teenager or just overall as a family that there is never anything to do here in Brewton? Probably more times than you can count?
But what if you had the opportunity here in Brewton to do something instead of always having to go to Pensacola? Would you like to see something like that come to the Brewton area? How about a putt-putt golf course for the city?
That is just what the Brewton Leadership No. 15 class is proposing as a project. We as a class, have to come up with a project that would benefit the city. As a class, we think a putt-putt golf course would be fun for people of all ages here in the city.
As of right now, we have in mind to put the nine-hole course up at Dogwood Hills. Already at the park is a splash pad, Rainbow Dragon playground, and tennis courts along with a regular golf course. With this added feature at Dogwood Hills, we think it would generate more business for the area and just give the people in Brewton something to do.
In the past, Brewton had a putt-putt golf course. They even a movie theater and a drive-in movie. Now, all those things are gone. There is nothing in this town for anyone to do in a time that our children, teens and families in general need it the most.
Let us know what you think about this. Spread the word. We have made a group on Facebook and would like to hear your input and comments there of what you think. The group ID is located here: http://www.facebook.com/groups/289361657767913/
If there is enough interest in the putt-putt course, it would let us know to go ahead and work on this project, but the project can not be done by the class alone. Funds have to be raised to help see this come to fruition. Rough estimates for this project is around $25,000 to $30,000 if not more. City officials the group has talked to are thrilled and excited and said they would love to see this come.
Let us know your comments and if you would be willing to help donate for this project or any ideas you would like to see done.
We thank you for your time.

Thanks in advance,
