WSN teams fall at Thomasville Tuesday

The W.S. Neal Lady and varsity Eagle basketball teams remained winless in area play Tuesday night as they traveled to Thomasville and came away with losses.
The Lady Eagles lost to Thomasville 58-9 while the varsity Eagles dropped a 78-45 decision.
With the losses, the Lady Eagles of East Brewton saw their record fall to 2-10 overall and to 0-3 in area play while the varsity Eagles dropped to 2-13 overall and to 0-3 in area play.
Also in action Tuesday night, the B-team Eagles lost 44-28 to Thomasville to fall to 1-9 overall this season.
After the losses Tuesday night to Thomasville, the B-team Eagles are on a six-game losing streak while the Lady and varsity Eagles are on an eight-game losing streak.
No stats from the B-team game were known as of press time.
All three Eagle basketball teams will play at Excel Friday in a non-area game. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
The Eagles will return to area play Tuesday, Jan. 17 when they will finish their five-game road trip in Evergreen when they take on the Hillcrest Jaguars at 4:30 p.m.
The Eagles will return home for their first home game since Dec. 20, Friday, Jan. 20 when they take on Monroe County in an area game.
Thomasville 58, WSN Lady Eagles 9
After being held to low digits Saturday against T.R. Miller, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles saw their offensive struggles continue Tuesday in Thomasville as they were held to nine points in a 49-point loss.
Thomasville outscored the Lady Eagles 14-4 in the first quarter Tuesday and held the Lady Eagles to two points in the second quarter while pouring in 20 of their own to claim a 34-6 lead at the half.
In the second half, the Lady Eagles were held to three total points with all coming in the third quarter to lose 58-9.
Thomasville outscored W.S. Neal 15-3 in the third quarter to increase their lead to 49-9 heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, Thomasville outscored the Lady Eagles 9-0.
Jasmine Crook led the Lady Eagles in the loss with three points.
Thomasville 78, WSN varsity 45
In varsity action Tuesday night in Thomasville, the home team Tigers defeated the Eagles by 33 points, 78-45.
The Eagles played Thomasville to a tight first quarter as they trailed by six points after one quarter of play, 20-14.
In the second quarter, the Eagles were held to only five points while Thomasville had 19 to increase their lead by 14 points to 39-19 at the half.
In the third quarter, Thomasville held a 25-12 advantage over the Eagles to extend their lead by 13 points to 64-31 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, both teams scored 14 points each as Thomasville took the win.
Trevor Burns led the Eagles in the loss with 18 points.
