A Uriah man is in custody this week following a grand jury indictment alleging he attempted to kill another person using a golf club.
Details about the incident were not available at press time, but officials said the attack occurred last year. The victim’s name was not available.
Jeffery Scott Puckett, 47, of South Palmers Road, in Uriah, was originally indicted by the Escambia County grand jury in the fall session held on Oct. 28, 2011.
The indictment states that Puckett “with intent to commit the crime of murder, did attempt to commit said offense by inflicting blunt force trauma with the use of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument, to-wit: a golf club.”
According to the indictment, Puckett also wielded a knife in the apparent attack.
Puckett was arrested and taken to the Escambia County Detention Center on Friday and is being held with a bond of $250,000.
