Hillcrest defeats WSN basketball

In a Tuesday area game in Evergreen against the Hillcrest Jaguars, all three W.S. Neal Eagle basketball teams suffered losses.
The B-team Eagles lost 63-20 to fall to 1-11 this season and increase their losing streak to eight games while the Lady Eagles lost 55-30. The loss for the Lady Eagles dropped their overall record to 3-11 and to 0-4 in area play.
In varsity action Tuesday night, the Eagles lost 92-43 to fall to 2-15 this season and 0-4 area play. The loss also increased the varsity Eagles’ losing streak to 10 games.
No stats or information from the B-team game Tuesday was known as of press time.
The Eagles were scheduled to play Monroe County at home Friday night in an area game, but that game has since been changed until today.
Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. in East Brewton.
Following the game Saturday against Monroe County, W.S. Neal will play at Pleasant Home Monday and will return home Tuesday to play Thomasville.

Hillcrest 55, WSN Lady Eagles 30
The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles remained winless in area play Tuesday as they lost by 25 points to Hillcrest, 55-30.
The Lady Eagles were outscored 15-8 in the first quarter and 13-7 in the second to face a halftime deficit of 28-15.
In the third quarter, Hillcrest held a 13-11 advantage and outscored the Lady Eagles 14-4 in the fourth to suffer the loss.
KeKe Floyd led W.S. Neal with 11 points.

Hillcrest 92, WSN varsity Eagles 43
A rough first and third quarter for W.S. Neal spelled defeat Tuesday at Hillcrest as they suffered a 49-point loss, 92-43.
Hillcrest jumped on the Eagles early in the first quarter as they started the game on a 26-7 run. In the second quarter, W.S. Neal was outscored 21-16 to trail 47-23 at the half.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal was outscored by 21 points, 31-10, to trail 78-33 heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, the Jaguars ended the game on a 14-10 run to get the win.
Jalen Harrod led the Eagles in the loss with 20 points.
