Lady Tigers pick up another big win Saturday

The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger basketball team kept their winning streak going and increased it to four games Saturday in Chatom as they defeated Washington County 54-9.
The win for the Lady Tigers improved their overall record to 12-7 and to 5-1 in area play.
Also in action Saturday against Washington County, the B-team Tigers dropped their fifth straight game to fall to 3-9 this season as they lost to the Bulldogs 49-39.
In varsity action, the Tigers of Brewton lost 72-50 to drop to 7-9 overall and to 2-4 in area play.
The Tigers were set to play at home against Bayside Academy Tuesday in an area game and will travel to Daphne Saturday to play the Admirals.
Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.

WCHS 49, TRM B-team 39
Despite Trae Walker’s 25 points, the T.R. Miller Tiger B-team was defeated by Washington County 49-39.
Washington County led the Tigers 10-6 after one quarter and 22-16 at the half following a 12-10 advantage in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs increased their lead by 13 points as they outscored the Tigers 16-3 to hold a 38-19 lead heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, T.R. Miller rallied with a 20-11 run but lost by 10.
Along with Walker’s 25 points, Dominique Jackson added nine points and Kellyn Winn had three. Jamar Prime chipped in two points in the loss.

TRM Lady Tigers 54, WCHS 9
After defeating Excel 48-8 Friday night at home, the Lady Tigers held Washington County to nine points Saturday as they picked up a 45-point win, 54-9.
Washington County failed to score more than three points in any quarter as the Lady Tigers rolled to the win.
T.R. Miller led 10-2 after the first quarter and 33-4 at the half following a 23-2 run in the second quarter. The Lady Tigers increased their lead to 46-7 heading into the fourth quarter after a 13-3 run in the third and finished the game on an 8-2 run to get the big win.
Leah Brundidge led with 17 points and LaTeysia Montgomery followed with 14. Nastarcia Drakeford finished with eight points while Morgan Rowell and Shae Nicholson both had two points in the win.

WCHS 72, TRM varsity Tigers 50
Trailing by three points at the half, 27-24, the T.R. Miller varsity Tigers were outscored 45-26 in the second half to lose by 22 to Washington County, 72-50.
T.R. Miller trailed 12-10 after one quarter of play and 27-24 at the half following a 15-14 advantage for Washington County in the second quarter.
In the third, Washington County outscored T.R. Miller 24-17 and 21-9 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Mark Bryant finished with 14 points for the Tigers in the loss while Kameron Winn had 13.
Jaquan Dewberry added nine points while Darrion Salter and Caleb Dickey both had seven points each.
