Strength Team coming for WGS

Cement blocks break under their forearms. Steel rods are bent like toothpicks along with the ripping of area phone books. A set of frying pans are rolled up like tootsie rolls and they snap Louisville Slugger baseball bats like twigs or rip license plates in half with their teeth.
Those are the feats of strength Brewton area residents will be able to see Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Feb. 3-5 as Mike Hagen’s Strength Team will be in the area for the 21st annual wild game supper at First Baptist Church in Brewton.
The team will be in the Brewton area “breaking barriers and building lives” Friday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. with a free event at First Baptist Church in Brewton.
Earlier on Friday, the team will tour three area schools (T.R. Miller, W.S. Neal, and Flomaton).
Saturday, Feb. 4, the team will perform at the annual wild game supper. The meal will begin at 5 p.m. in Bell Chapel and service will begin at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary.
On Sunday, Feb. 5 at FBC, the Strength Team will be the guest speakers in the 10 a.m. service.
“The Strength Team is a group of professional athletes traveling the world bring a highly motivational and inspirational message to thousands each year,” FBC associate pastor John Finklea who started the wild game supper 21 years ago said. “Mike Hagen is the head of the group. They do tremendous feats like ripping through telephone books, breaking concrete blocks, handcuffs and twisting baseball bats. They also run into and break 2x4s.”
Finklea said the team has been featured on CNN, ESPN and Walker Texas Ranger with Chuck Norris.
“They are a great group of guys and they will share their testimony,” he said. “When they go to the schools, they will not be allowed to share their testimonies but will be able to give motivational speeches and talk about making the right choices.”
Saturday night will be the normal wild game supper Finklea said.
“We will give away prizes as usual and tickets are available,” he said. “Sunday, Mike Hagen will speak at First Baptist in Brewton while another speaker will speak at First Baptist in East Brewton and another at Little Escambia Baptist Church in Flomaton.
“we are looking for a great turnout. I think it will be very worthwhile for the people of Brewton and surrounding areas to come and see and hear what they do and say.”
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the church office or at the door Saturday night.
