JDCC softball goes winless at Sun Chief Classic Sunday

In the LBW Round Robin Tournament Saturday in Andalusia, the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team split to see their record go to 2-4 this season.
JDCC won game one against Southern Union 4-3 to improve to 2-3 this season, but fell in their second game of the day to East Central College by a score of 2-1 to drop to 2-4.
“We played really hard in the extreme weather,” JDCC head coach Misti Nims said. “I am proud of how we fought through the adversity.”
JDCC played in the Sun Chief Classic Sunday and lost three games to fall to 2-7.
The Lady Warhawks will play in the Cardinal Spring Fling II Friday and Saturday in Gadsden before retuning home Thursday, Feb. 23 when they take on Gadsden State Community College.
Game time is set for 1 and 3 p.m. at Lady Warhawk field on the campus of Jefferson Davis Community College in Brewton.

JDCC 4, SU 3
JDCC broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the sixth inning and held on for a one-run 4-3 win after Southern Union scored one in the seventh to improve to 2-3 this season.
Southern Union scored one run in the top of the first inning before the Lady Warhawks plated two in the bottom of the inning to get a one-run lead.
Neither team would score until the fifth inning when Southern Union tied the game at 2-2.
In the bottom of the sixth, JDCC plated two runs to hold a 4-2 lead but Southern Union scored one in the seventh to cut the lead to 4-3 but JDCC would hang on for the win.
Amber Steadham was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a homerun and Kayla Watson had one RBI in the win.
Paige Harwell was 1-for-3 and Jennifer Fisher was 2-for-3 with a double. Carley Parker was 1-for-3.
Jaime Sanders earned the win on the mound going two innings allowing one hit, one run, none earned, walked one and struck out one.
Jennifer Morris went five innings allowing four hits, two runs, one earned, walked eight and struck out two.

East Central 2, JDCC 1
East Central College scored one run in the sixth and one in the bottom of the seventh to hand JDCC a 2-1 loss in the second game of the LBW Round Robin Tournament.
The Lady Warhawks scored one run in the top of the first inning before being held scoreless the remainder of the game while East Central would plate two late runs to get the win by one.
Steadham was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Morris was 1-for-1. Amber McMillan went 2-for-3 and Dymon Coachman was 1-for-3 in the loss.
Elissa Kelly and Sanders pitched in the loss for JDCC with Kelly taking the loss. Kelly went six innings allowing four hits, two runs, one earned, walked four and struck out three.
Sanders went one inning allowing one hit.

Sunday game one: Calhoun 5, JDCC 2
In their first game Sunday in Sun Chief Classic in Gulf Shores following the LBW tournament Saturday, JDCC lost to Calhoun 5-2.
The loss for the Lady Warhawks dropped JDCC to 2-5.
Calhoun led JDCC 3-1 after the first inning and 4-1 after two innings.
JDCC would get one run across in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 4-2, but Calhoun would add their final run of the day in the top of the fifth to seal the win by three.
Sanders took the loss on the mound allowing 11 hits, five runs, three earned, walked one and struck out two in seven innings.
At the plate, Morgan Agerton was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Carley Parker was 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Sunday game two: Darton College 4, JDCC 3
After forcing the game into an extra inning after tying the game a 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh, JDCC fell to one run in the eighth inning to lose to Darton College 4-3.
JDCC led 2-0 after the first inning before Darton added one run each in the next three innings to take a 3-2 lead. JDCC would tie the game in the bottom of the seventh before falling to one run in the eighth to lose by one.
Jennifer Fisher was 1-for-1 with one RBI and Parker was 1-for-3 with a triple and one RBI in the loss.
Morris took the loss on the mound going two innings and allowing two hits, two earned runs, walked four and struck out one.

Sunday game three: NW Florida 16, JDCC 0
In their final game of the Sun Chief Classic Sunday in Gulf Shores, JDCC fell to Northwest Florida 16-0. The loss dropped JDCC to 2-7 this season.
The Lady Warhawks were held to four hits and no runs while making two errors in the loss while the Lady Raiders pounded out 17 hits and scored 16 runs while making no errors.
Kayla Baxter, Agerton, Fisher, and Amber McMillan all had hits in the loss.
Kelly took the loss on the mound for JDCC as she went three innings allowing 12 hits, 11 earned runs, walked two and struck out two.
Tristen Faircloth pitched two innings in the loss and allowed five runs, three earned, five hits, walked and struck out none.
JDCC started their season off with two losses to NWF at home losing 19-5 and 9-5.
