Warhawk baseball blanks MMI to improve to 4-9

After two losses earlier in the week at Lawson and Pensacola State College, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team ended their losing streak with a 6-0 win over Marion Military Tuesday at home.
With the win, JDCC’s record now stands at 4-9.
The Warhawks were scheduled to play at Faulkner University in Montgomery Thursday in a doubleheader before returning home Saturday to play Wallace-Selma in a doubleheader at 1 p.m.

JDCC 6, MMI 0
JDCC plated five runs in the first inning and added another in the fifth while holding MMI scoreless to get a 6-0 win.
In the first inning, JDCC benefited from three hits, two walks, one hit batter and two errors.
At the plate for JDCC, Jordan Creel was 1-for-3 and Dustin Bickmeyer was 1-for-4. Dillan Schaniel went 1-for-3 and Mark Humphreys was 2-for-3.
Keaton Maher went 1-for-3 and Andrew Tindell was 1-for-4. Kyle Freeman had one RBI in the win.
Michael Yarborough took the win on the mound for JDCC going three innings and allowing four hits, no runs, walked two and struck out four.
Jeremy Barnes went four innings allowing three hits, walked one and struck out two while Tyler Howell went the final two innings and struck out one.

Lawson 8, JDCC 5
Despite having nine hits in the game and holding Lawson to three, JDCC took an 8-5 loss to fall to 3-8.
Lawson scored four runs in the first inning and after JDCC cut the lead to 6-5 in the top of the sixth, scored two in the bottom of the inning to get the win by three.
Nathan Edwards was 1-for-2 at the plate and Brandon Blackwelder had two RBIs. Creel was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Bickmeyer was 1-for-5.
Humphreys batted 2-for-3 and Maher was 1-for-4 with one RBI. Freeman was 1-for-4 and Tindell was 2-for-5 with one RBI.
Tyler Moore took the loss on the mound going 2 1/3 innings allowing four hits, four runs, three earned, walked two and struck out one.
Trey Place, Howell and John Williams also pitched in the loss.

Pensacola State 1, JDCC 0
With no team scoring a run through seven innings, Pensacola State plated one run in the bottom of the eighth inning and held JDCC scoreless in the ninth to get a one-run win over the Warhawks.
Creel was 1-for-4 at the plate and Schaniel and Tindell were both 2-for-4.
Joey Hedden pitched seven innings in the loss and allowed five hits, no runs, walked two and struck out three while Corey Thompson went one inning and allowed one earned run, no hits, walked none and struck out one.
