Brewton Police are continuing their work with the agents with the FBI as the investigation into a bank robbery last month continues.
Lt. Brock Holt with Brewton Police said the investigation has turned up several leads that are being followed by the agencies involved.
“We are continuing to work with the FBI every day,” Holt said. “There are leads that are still being followed and more leads are coming in.”
Holt said the circumstances of the Feb. 17robbery of the downtown branch of Bank of Brewton, has given the investigating agents cause for care and diligence in their investigation.
“When you get a suspect dressed like you wouldn’t normally see in a robbery, it takes some time to sort things out,” Holt said. “All of the investigation team members are being very thorough and precise in this investigation. I believe that will pay off with evidence. When that arrest comes, that precision will lead to a conviction.”
Although Holt could not discuss any of the leads being followed in the investigation, he did say progress was being made in the case.
“We’re making good strides in this case,” Holt said. “It’s a huge case so it’s going to take some time to make sure everything is handled properly.”
Along with information already on the books with Brewton Police and FBI agents, Holt said additional information is always welcome.
“Sometimes people remember things they heard or saw after the fact sometime down the line,” Holt said. “Anyone that remembers anything unusual they saw that day or in the days that followed the robbery need to give us a call. Also, anything they may have heard since then is something we’d like to know about.”
