With the annual Relay for Life event just weeks away, organizers for the fundraiser event are planning a meeting to bring teams and team captains up to date on plans.

Katelyn Ellis,American Cancer Society community representative and chairwoman for the Brewton area event, said a meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the education center at D.W. McMillan Hospital Tuesday, March 27 for anyone interested in being a part of the Relay event.

So far, eight teams have committed to participate in the annual event either through a campsite presence or through silent team fund raising. Teams already working on plans for Relay for Life include Georgia Pacific, T.R. Miller High School, Brewton Elementary, Comfort Care Hospice, D.W. McMillan Hospital, Dixonville Volunteer Fire Department,Jefferson Davis Community College and Piggly Wiggly.

The Relay event is planned for May 5 on the campus of the Greater Brewton Area YMCA on Belleville Avenue.
