Brewton resident and longtime business leader for the community Ed Leigh McMillan II passed away Thursday after battling cancer for a period of time. McMillan was in Rochester, Minn., at the time of his death where he was a patient at the Mayo Clinic undergoing cancer treatment.

“Ed Leigh was very much involved with the community,” said Dr. Ed Glaize, pastor at First United Methodist Church where McMillan attended services. “His death is a great loss for Brewton, but Heaven is a better place with him there. He had a big heart and could light up a room with his boisterous voice and personality. We will miss him and our congregation here at the church will miss him. He has done a lot for many people and his acts of kindness will be remembered.”
