WSN softball falls to Jay 12-2, middle school falls 6-5

The W.S. Neal High School Lady Eagle softball team saw their losing streak fall to four games Thursday at home as they lost to Jay 12-2. The loss for the Lady Eagles dropped their overall record to 7-9.
Jay used a seven-run second inning to help defeat W.S. Neal by 10. Both teams scored one run each in the first inning before the Lady Royals’ seven runs in the second inning to take an 8-1 lead. Jay would get two runs in the fourth inning to take a 10-1 lead over W.S. Neal but the Lady Eagles of East Brewton added one run in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 10-2. Jay would get one run in the fifth and one in the sixth to end the game in six innings as they won by 10.
Kaitlin Hadaway pitched six innings in the loss for W.S. Neal striking out five, walking three, hit two batters, allowed 12 runs with four being earned and eight hits.
At the plate for W.S. Neal in the loss, Lauren Boatwright was1-for-3 with a run and Paige Grantham was 1-for-2 with a walk. Autumn Hinote was 1-for-3 and Jade Danley was 1-for-3 with a run. Kaeli Brown was also 1-for-3.
The W.S. Neal Middle School Lady Eagle softball team lost to Jay 6-5 to drop their record to 4-4. No stats from that game were known as of press time.
