Brewton Thunder and Heat start seasons with wins Monday night

The Brewton Thunder softball team defeated Flomaton 17-7 Monday night to start their season 1-0.
For the Thunder, Steely Ruzic pitched three innings giving up two runs on two walks and struck out six. Mary Madison Brown pitched the fourth inning to close the game.
Ruzic was 2-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs for the Thunder in the win and Brown was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs.
Leanna Rikard scored three times while Asia Campbell, Amaiya Jounson, Hallie Daniel and Haley Thompson each scored twice.
Heat 17, Blazin’ Babes 6
The Brewton Heat took down the Blazin’ Babes 17-6 to start their season 1-0 while the Babes started 0-1.
Myra Reiss earned the win on the mound for the Heat as she allowed three hits, no walks and struck out two. Mallori Floyd was the pitcher of record for the Blazin’ Babes. Floyd allowed one hit, walked six and struck out three.
For the Heat, Reiss was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs scored and Alexis King was 1-for-2 with two runs scored. Jakyra Spears was 1-for-2 with two runs scored.
Hannah Lisenby, Anna Grace White, Desiree Lambert Jessica Southworth, and Ladonna Washington all scored runs.
For the Babes, Morgan Longmire was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and Gabbi Soloman was 1-for-2. Floyd was also 1-for-2 with one run scored.
Tess Thomas scored two runs and Asia Campbell scored one run as well.
