TRM baseball rallies to beat No. 1 Bayside

After taking down No. 1 Bayside Academy 5-0 in Brewton Thursday, the No. 7-ranked T.R. Miller Tigers and Admirals played two thrilling games Friday in Daphne with the Tigers taking the series in extra innings.
The Tigers of Brewton fell in the second game of the series and first game Friday 10-9 but took the third and deciding game 12-11 in eight innings.
The win for T.R. Miller improved the Tigers to 15-6 overall, but most importantly to 6-1 in area play.
The Tigers will play their final area series with Clarke County Thursday in Brewton and Friday in Grove Hill.
A series win over the Bulldogs will make the Tigers area champions.
Game time is set for 5 p.m. Thursday in Brewton and 5 and 7 p.m. in Grove Hill Friday.
T.R. Miller is scheduled to play at W.S. Neal Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Bayside 10, T.R. Miller 9
T.R. Miller rallied from a 7-1 deficit after three innings to tie the game in the top of the seventh before losing by one in the bottom of the last inning.
T.R. Miller took an early lead over the Admirals by a score of 2-0 after one inning of play. After the Tigers pushed one run across in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead, Bayside plated seven runs in the bottom of the inning off of four T.R. Miller errors to claim a 7-3 lead.
Bayside added one run each in the fourth and fifth innings to increase their lead to 9-3, but T.R. Miller added four in the sixth and two in the seventh to tie the game at 9-9.
Bayside plated one run in the bottom of the seventh to get the win by one.
Caleb McAnally was 2-for-3 for the Tigers with a double and two RBIs and Collin Graves was 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Kevin Davis went 1-for-4 and Jacob Fillmore was 1-for-4.
Conner Denton, Darby Black and Tyler Dehoff all pitched in the loss with Dehoff being the pitcher of record.
The trio went seven innings and allowed 10 runs, four earned, six hits, struck out two, walked three and hit one batter.
T.R. Miller 12, Bayside 11, eight innings
In the third and deciding game of the series, T.R. Miller rallied late again but this time came out on top by one run in extra innings to get the series win and stun the No. 1 team in class 3A.
T.R. Miller trailed 5-0 after the first inning and 9-0 after three innings before scoring one run in the fourth inning, six in the fifth and four in the sixth to take an 11-9 lead.
Bayside rallied in the bottom of the seventh with two runs to tie the game at 11 and force extra innings but the Tigers plated one in the top of the eighth and held Bayside in the bottom of the inning to get the win.
Trippe Floyd, an eighth grader, earned the win on the mound going four innings allowing two runs, one earned, one hit, struck out five, walked and hit three batters.
Dehoff earned the save in the eighth inning.
At the plate, Graves was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Fillmore was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Denton was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs and Floyd was 1-for-1. Kyle Davis was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
