Lucky seven: WSN softball wins seventh straight game

While Friday the 13th may have been unlucky for some, Thursday the 12th was a lucky day for the W.S. Neal Lady Eagle softball team as they picked up their seventh straight win.
W.S. Neal improved to 14-9 with a 5-4 area win over Jackson on the road Thursday and improved to 2-3 in area play.
W.S. Neal led 1-0 after the first inning before falling behind 2-1 in the fourth inning. W.S. Neal would take a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning and a 5-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning.
Jackson plated two in the bottom of the inning, but W.S. Neal held on for the one-run win.
Kaitlin Hadaway went seven innings for W.S. Neal and earned the win striking out 12 and walking two while hitting one batter and surrendering seven hits, four runs and one earned.
At the plate, Hadaway was 2-for-4 with a triple and one RBI while Autumn Hinote was 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs and one RBI.
Kaeli Brown and Paige Grantham both scored one run each while Anna Nelson was 1-for-2 with two walks.
In the JV game, W.S. Neal lost 6-3. No JV stats were known other than Tiffany Sawyer pitched three innings giving up four runs and Nelson pitched the fourth inning giving up two runs.
W.S. Neal was scheduled to play at Jay Friday and will have a makeup game against Monroe County Monday.
