TRM track takes first in eight-team meet event

In an eight-team track meet Thursday at T.R. Miller High School, the Lady Tigers and Tigers both came in first place to sweep the meet.
In boys action, T.R. Miller posted first place with 150 points followed by Hillcrest with 95, W.S. Neal with 83, Monroe County with 71, J.U. Blacksher with 56, Atmore with 30, Opp with 12 and Florala with 10 points.
In girls action, T.R. Miller won with 206 points followed by Blacksher with 77 points, Atmore with 38 points, W.S. Neal with 36 points, Monroe County with 28, Hillcrest and Florala with 25 and Opp with none.
In the boys meet, T.R. Miller placed first in the 4×800-event with a time of 9:40.3 while W.S. Neal placed second with a time of 9:41.1.
Kameron Winn placed first with a time of 15.94 in the 100/110-hurdles over W.S. Neal’s Josiah Nettles’ time of 16.03.
Rob Stokes took the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:59 and also took the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19. Nettles won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.02 and W.S. Neal’s 4×400-meter relay team of 3:57 won first place. Jerric Woods won the long jump with a jump of 20-5 while Nick Adams won the javelin with a throw of 155-11 and the pole vault with a vault of 10-feet. Winn also won the triple jump with a jump of 41-4.
In the girls events, T.R. Miller’s 4×800-relay team and the 4×400 team took first place. In the 4×800 event, T.R. Miller placed first with a time of 12:03 and won the 4×400 with a time of 4:43 over W.S. Neal’s 5:47.
Amber Nelson won the hurdles with a time of 17.86 and Karisa Nelson won the 1600-meter with a time of 5:28.
W.S. Neal’s 4×100-meter relay team won first with a time of 54.62. Karisa Nelson also took first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:44. Lauren Bradley won the discus with a throw of 96-2 and O’Nesha Hall took the shot put with a throw of 30-5. Amber Nelson won the high jump with a jump of 4-8 while Amber Terry placed first in the pole vault with a vault of 7-foot. Amber Nelson also took first in the triple jump.
