A small section of U.S. 41 (St. Nicholas Avenue) was closed just after noon Monday to allow workers with the Alabama Department of Transportation to complete road resurfacing plans in the area.

According to ALDOT officials,U.S. 41/St. Nicholas Avenue will be closed from Sowell Street to Rankin Street while the work is being completed.

A detour for passenger cars and light trucks is in place to safely guide traffic around this area. Large truck traffic must detour from I-65 to Alabama 113 to Flomaton then to U.S. 31 to Brewton) and vice versa.

Traffic control is in place to warn and safely guide motorists around this closure.

The period of time for the road closure has not been estimated by ALDOT officials.
