Heat holds on to beat Thunder in Brewton softball action

As summer time approaches, usually there are a few thunderstorms while the heat is a constant occurrence.
At the Brewton YMCA Sports Park in a recent Brewton softball league game, it was the Heat that won out over the Thunder by two, 10-8, to improve their record to 5-3 this season.
The Heat used an eight-run first inning to take an early lead, but had to hold on to the lead late to get the win.
Leading 8-3 after one inning, the Thunder cut the lead to 9-5 after two innings and 10-6 after three. In the fourth inning, the Thunder plated two runs to cut the lead to 10-8 but failed to get any closer as the Heat held on for the win.
Myra Reiss earned the win on the mound going four innings and allowing three hits, three walks and struck out seven. Steely Ruzic took the loss on the mound for the Thunder going three innings and allowing three hits, five walks and struck out two.
At the plate for the Heat in the win, Madison Douglas was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and scored one run while Reiss was 1-for-2 with one run scored. Jessica Southworth had one RBI and Alexis King scored two runs along with Desiree Lambert. Anna Grace White, Hannah Lisenby, Brionna Dees and Jakyra Spears all scored one run each in the win.
For the Thunder in the loss, Mary Madison Brown was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and scored one run. Ruzic was 1-for-3 with two runs scored while Grace Ruzic scored two runs and Hallie Daniel scored one run.
