Brundidge named honorable mention All-State player

After signing a softball scholarship to play at Troy University last week, T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball player Leah Brundidge has received another honor announced today.
The Alabama Sports Writers Association named Brundidge an honorable mention 3A All-State player at third base.
Brundidge helped lead the Lady Tigers to a 20-12 record this year. During her senior season, Brundidge played in 32 games and had a .469 batting average with 45 hits in 96 at bats. She scored 45 runs and had 11 doubles, six triples, three homeruns and 23 RBIs while walking seven times and striking out only eight times. She also had 14 stolen bases.
T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach softball coach Greg White said Brundidge was a quality third baseman for him for several years.
“Due to some injuries of her teammates and other situations she was asked to play catcher and shortstop this season more than third, and she handled that real well,” White said. “She was just a consistent player all season. She wasn’t perfect, but she was consistent. That’s what we ask all of our players be, and that’s why she is getting the recognition that she is. We are proud for her.”
Brundidge joined players from state championship teams on the ASWA All-State softball team that was released today.
Of the seven classes in the state, 15 players were first-team selections from championship squads along with six coaches that guided those teams. The ASWA Super All-State softball team along with Miss Softball will be released on Monday.
