One county school gained a new principal Thursday afternoon while another school lost one.

Susan McKenzie was named principal to serve at W.S. Neal Elementary School in East Brewton during a meeting of the Escambia County School Board Thursday.

McKenzie, who most recently served as principal at Rachel Patterson Elementary School in Atmore, will be replacing John Knott who landed a position as assistant superintendent for the county system earlier this summer.

In another move at the central office of the BOE, Mona Simmons has a new position that will find her reponsible for transportation issues for county schools and the human resources department for the entire school system. Simmons has previously served in the special education services in Flomaton and in the student services office.
