In an effort to help end hunger, two local organizations are teaming up with Whataburger in a food drive to benefit food banks in the Brewton area.
The Brewton Public Library, with the support of the Community Action Agency, will be holding a food drive beginning Sept. 4 in an effort to collection non-perishable food items for area food banks.
In conjunction with the effort, Whataburger will be providing coupons for a free Whataburger to those individuals who contribute at least three non-perishable food items.
The food drive will continue through Sept. 28 with the Brewton Public Library as the collection point for the drive.
Whataburger officials say the collaboration of the groups is being done in recognition of Hunger Action Month throughout September. In addition to the food drive, the restaurant chain supports the communities it serves through charitable giving and volunteerism to a number of non-profit organizations that focus on children’s charities, cancer research, hunger assistance, disaster relief and military support.
