In their last regular season road game Tuesday at Excel, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger JV and varsity volleyball teams came away with wins to sweep the Lady Panthers.
The JV Lady Tigers defeated Excel 2-0 while the varsity Lady Tigers came away with a 3-0 win.
In JV action, T.R. Miller won 25-18 in set one and 25-14 in set two to end their season with a 5-7 record.
“I’m proud that the JV season ended with a win,” Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “Those kids had an up and down season but they never stopped working hard. We used several different line ups throughout their season and that may not have allowed for much consistency with their play, but that’s what JV ball is all about, finding players who can make plays and finding out who you can count on as they progress through your program. I learned a lot about this team this season that will help me out in the future.”
In varsity action, T.R. Miller 25-15, 25-12, and 25-17 to improve their overall record to 6-7 this year.
“We came out tonight and played hard,” White said. “We felt like we might have an advantage on the net and we tried to capitalize on it. Our hitters did a very nice job of hitting the ball hard and putting pressure on their defense. We were a much better serving team tonight also. We just need to keep playing hard and keep playing like T.R. Miller is supposed to play as we head down towards the end of the season.”
T.R. Miller was scheduled to play Excel and Andalusia Thursday in a rescheduled tri-match from earlier in the year that was cancelled due to Hurricane Isaac.
The game is the last regular season game for T.R. Miller. The Lady Tigers will play in the Escambia County Tournament Saturday at JDCC.
T.R. Miller will begin play at 9 a.m. against W.S. Neal.
