Andalusia sweeps BMS basketball Thursday

The Brewton Middle School boys basketball team remained winless Thursday night as they lost a road game at Andalusia 33-20.
With the loss, Brewton fell to 0-4.
Andalusia led Brewton 14-4 after one quarter of play and edged out Brewton 3-2 in the second quarter to take a 17-6 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Andalusia held Brewton to three points while pouring in 12 of their own to increase their lead to 20 points as they took a 29-9 lead into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, Brewton jumped out the Bulldogs 11-4, but the damage had already been done as Andalusia held on for the 33-20 win.
Marcus Paul led Brewton with six points while Hayden Atkinson and Jo Jo Booker both had four points. Joshua Jolly chipped in four points in the loss.
In girls action Thursday, the Lady Tigers suffered their first defeat of the season with a 28-22 loss to Andalusia to fall to 3-1 this season.
Andalusia jumped on Brewton early with a 15-8 lead in the first quarter and held Brewton scoreless in the second to help take a 17-8 lead at the half.
In the third, Brewton was edged out 6-5 to fall behind 23-13 heading into the fourth. In the fourth, Brewton rallied with a 9-5 advantage, but it was too late as Andalusia took the win by six, 28-22.
Steely Ruzic led Brewton with six points and Akilah Brazile added four points. Jakyra Spears finished with three points while Morgan Longmire, Destiny Watson Brianna Dees and Karmaiya Jenkins all had two points. Ivory Johnson added one point in the loss.
Brewton will play at McCall Tuesday at 6 p.m.
