A 61-year-old Brewton woman was arrested Saturday evening and charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing her 58-year-old husband with a pocketknife.

Investigators said Pauline Johnson of Cook Road arrived home at about 9 p.m. and began arguing with her husband Rodric McLemore on the porch of the residence. Officers said police responded to the same address earlier in the day after Johnson reported that her husband was threatening to set fire to the residence. When officers arrived, police said, McLemore had left.

The Saturday evening altercation escalated, investigators said, and McLemore was going to get his cane to leave when Johnson allegedly stabbed him in the left forearm. The victim was transported to D.W. McMillan Hospital before being transferred to a Pensacola hospital for more extensive treatment.

Officers arrested Johnson at the scene and transported her to the Escambia County Detention Center.
