WSN girls basketball team sees season end with loss to Cottage Hill

The W.S. Neal Lady Eagle basketball team capped off a winless season Thursday night as they lost to Cottage Hill 48-30 in their area tournament game in Mobile.
The 18-point loss ended the season for the Lady Eagles as they finished the season with a 0-15 record.
KeKe Floyd led the Lady Eagles with 15 points in the loss.
Cottage Hill took control of the game early as they led W.S. Neal 17-6 after one quarter and 25-13 at the half after edging out the Lady Eagles 8-7 in the second quarter.
In the third, Cottage Hill increased their lead by one point as they held a 12-11 advantage in the quarter to take a 37-24 lead into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Warriors ended the game on an 11-6 run to get the win by 18 and end W.S. Neal’s season.
With the win, Cottage Hill advanced to play T.R. Miller Saturday for the area championship. T.R. Miller’s girls defeated Bayside Academy 36-33 in overtime to advance to the finals. Both teams will advance to the sub-regional round next week. The area champion will host the sub-regional game while the area runner-up will travel to area 2’s champion.
