The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball team picked up their third straight win Friday at home as they defeated Flomaton 9-4 to improve to 4-3 this season. All three wins came this past week for the Lady Tigers.
“It was a good win for us,” T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “Flomaton is kind of a rivalry game for us and we have good games with them every year. Today they did not go away. They are a hard-nosed team and they are not going to quit. We were fortunate to get the lead that we had and to be able to hang on to it. Moriah (Brundidge) pitched solid and we had some timely hits. We got some folks on base in the middle innings and in the third and the fourth innings we could have scored some and broke it open but we didn’t. We finally got the run in the fifth and sixth innings and stretched it out a bit. I appreciate our teams in finishing as well. It was a good win and we are glad to have it. It has been a good week with three wins and we hope to keep it going next week with an area games on Thursday (against W.S. Neal) and Atmore on Tuesday.”
The Lady Tigers were able to take an early lead on Flomaton in the first inning as they benefited from two Hurricane errors and three hits to take a 4-0 lead after one.
After Flomaton cut the lead to 4-1 in the second, T.R. Miller added two runs in their half of the inning to grab a 6-1 lead.
After a scoreless third inning for both teams, Flomaton cut the lead to 6-2 in the fourth. T.R. Miller added two in the fifth and one in the sixth to grab a 9-2 lead and held on for the five-run lead after Flomaton put two across in the top of the seventh.
Brundidge earned the win on the mound going the complete game and allowing five hits, four runs, walked four, hit two and struck out six.
At the plate for the Lady Tigers, T.R. Miller pounded out 13 hits in the win.
Audrey Hamric and Takeysia McFugerson both had two singles each with McFugerson having two RBIs.
Kelsey Thompson added a single and one RBI while Krystal Bell had two singles and one RBI. Brundidge also had two singles and one RBI while Abbi Roberts added a single. Jessica Allan chipped in two singles and one RBI while Ali Taylor had a single and Leslie Holmes had a double.
