WSNMS baseball falls to 1-6

The W.S. Neal Middle School baseball team picked up their first win of the season Friday at Clarke County, but lost two games Saturday in the Excel tournament to see their record fall to 1-6.
The Eagles took down Clarke County 4-3 to improve to 1-4 this season, but on Saturday took a 4-1 loss to Bayside Academy and a 6-0 loss to Excel.
The Eagles will play their first of two straight home games to end the season Tuesday against Central. Game time is set for 4 p.m. and will be a doubleheader. The Eagles will finish their season Monday, March 18, at home against Excel. Game time is set for 4 p.m. and will be a doubleheader.

WSNMS 4, Clarke County 3
W.S. Neal scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to rally from a 3-1 deficit and get their first win of the season Friday against Clarke County by a score of 4-3.
Kristian Taylor led the Eagles at the plate with a 2-for-3 day while Brandon Moye, Connor Huskey, Matt Hutchins, Hunter Revel and Aaron Bosarge all had hits. Moye led with two RBIs while Taylor and Hutchins was one RBI each.
Jacoby Hawthorne earned the win on the mound. He went two innings and allowed one hit and struck out two.

Bayside 4, WSNMS 1
In game one of the Excel tournament, W.S. Neal Middle School took a 4-1 loss to Bayside.
Taylor was 2-for-3 with a double while Revel, P.J. Lovelace, Westin Riddle and Bosarge all had hits.
Hutchins took the loss going four innings and allowing four runs, five hits, three strikeouts. Two runs were earned.

Excel 6, WSNMS 0
Facing the host team Excel Panthers, the W.S. Neal Middle School baseball team lost to Excel 6-0. The loss dropped the Eagles to 1-6.
Huskey, Moye and Bosarge all had hits in the loss. Hawthorne took the loss on the mound and allowed five runs, seven hits, struck out and walked one in two innings.
“We are very young with all 12 players being seventh graders,” W.S. Neal head coach Chuck Phillips said.
