TRM track teams take first in home meet

In their second home track meet Friday, the T.R. Miller boys and girls teams came away with their second straight sweep.
T.R. Miller’s boys won the seven-team with a total score of 177 points while the girls won with 195 points.
Hillcrest’s boys came in second with 80 points and W.S. Neal took third with 61 points. J.U. Blacksher came in fourth with 58 points and Monroe County took fifth with 56 points. Escambia County of Atmore took sixth place with 47 points and Opp took seventh with 35 points.
For the girls, J.U. Blacksher took second with 100 points and Opp took third with 77 points. W.S. Neal’s girls came in fourth with 35 points and Hillcrest finished in fifth with 27 points. Escambia County came in sixth place with 30 points and Monroe County scored 13 points to claim seventh place.
T.R. Miller’s 4×100-relay took first place in the meet and Allen Boyd claimed first in the two hurdles events. Rob Stokes claimed first place in the 1600 and 800-meter runs. T.R. Miller’s 4×800 and 4×400-meter relay team also claimed first in the meet.
William Whittle took first in the javelin event and George Graves took first for T.R. Miller in the pole vault. For W.S. Neal, Gary Likely won the triple jump.
In the girls events, Lateysia Montgomery won the hurdle event while Destiny Walker claimed the long jump and 400-meter dash.
W.S. Neal won the 4×100-meter relay and Lindsay Norton won the 800-meter run for T.R. Miller. T.R. Miller’s 4×400-meter relay took first and Erin Wade won the pole vault event. Makayla Harrison won the triple jump.
