JDCC baseball gets big win over Bishop State

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team got back in the win column Thursday in a big way as they cruised to a 16-6 conference win over Bishop State in Brewton.
JDCC improved to 11-20 overall and to 3-13 in conference play.
The Warhawks used a seven-run first inning to help propel them to the win.
Matthew Holmes led the Warhawks at the plate in the win, as he was 3-for-5 with six RBIs.
Mark Humphreys, Logan Hill and Brandon Ray all had doubles in the win for the Warhawks.
Humphreys had four hits and Hill had three. Alex Jones had one hit and Ray had two hits.
Trae Walsingham also led JDCC in the win at the plate, as he was 4-for-4 with one RBI.
Local players Reid Johnson, of W.S. Neal, was 2-for-5 and Hunter Bonds of Flomaton was 1-for-5 at the plate in the win for the Warhawks.
Humphreys, Ray and Jones had two RBIs each and Ray and Walsingham both had one RBI.
John Williams earned the win on the mound for JDCC. He went five innings and allowed 10 hits, five runs, four earned, walked none and struck out six.
Tyler Henry and Mitchell Peterson also pitched in the win. The two combined to go three innings and allowed four hits, one earned run, walked none and struck out two.
The two teams will meet again Saturday in Brewton when they will play a 9 and 7-innings doubleheader starting at noon.
