Give blood; treat yourself well

Donating blood has been referred to as giving the “gift of life” by many health care professionals. An opportunity will be available for those who give that gift to have a shot at a special gift for themselves in the process.

A blood drive will be held at D.W. McMillan Hospital Monday, April 29 with donors (over the age of 21) being entered into a drawing to win prizes that includes spa services, hotel accommodations or dinner. The drive will run from noon to 6 p.m.

The blood drive, coordinated by the Northwest Florida Blood Services organization, is a regular event aimed at maintaining a supply of blood products for patients around the area.

Blood drives, such as the one planned next week, help save lives in area communities by donating blood to the blood center that supplies all blood and blood products to your local hospital.   It could be the life of your loved one, neighbor or your own. Blood is as perishable as it is precious. Diabetes and many medications will not prevent you from giving the gift of lifesaving blood.

Donors at D.W. McMillan Hospital will receive a t-shirt as well as a wellness check and cholesterol screening at the time of the donation.
