TRM softball edged out at JUB Tuesday in eight innings

Leading 3-0 after the first inning, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers dropped a 6-5 loss at J.U. Blacksher Tuesday afternoon in extra innings. The loss dropped T.R. Miller to 10-7 overall this year.
Leading 3-0 after the first inning and through the top of the third inning, the Lady Tigers fell to two runs for J.U. Blacksher in the third and fourth innings to fall behind 5-3. After tying the game at 5-all in the top of the sixth inning, both teams were held scoreless the remainder of the way to force extra innings. In the eighth, T.R. Miller fell to one run for J.U. Blacksher to take the 6-4 loss.
T.R. Miller out hit the Lady Bulldogs 6-4 in the loss.
Madison Douglas led T.R. Miller at the plate with a 2-for-4 day. Kelsey Thompson, Jessica Allan, Audrey Hamric and Abbi Roberts all had one hit each in the loss. Krystal Bell had one RBI while Allan and Roberts had two each.
Taylor Austin was the pitcher of record for T.R. Miller after coming in relief of starter Laurel Billy. Billy went the first four innings and allowed five runs, two earned, walked one and struck out five. Austin went the final three innings and allowed one run, one hit, walked one and struck out two.
The Lady Tigers made six errors in the loss while J.U. Blacksher made three.
T.R. Miller is scheduled to travel to W.S. Neal Thursday at 4 p.m. for their final area game of the season. The Lady Tigers will play in the Escambia County softball tournament Friday and Saturday at JDCC.
