Track teams headed to state

Both the W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller boys and girls track teams participated in their sectional meets Friday and Saturday in Tuscaloosa with both schools having athletes qualify for the state meets this weekend. The top six athletes from each event go on to state.
The Tiger boys of T.R. Miller was crowned sectional champs as they finished with 166 points. Greensboro placed second with 133 points. Eleven teams competed in the boys events. W.S. Neal’s boys placed fourth with 64 points. Cottage Hill took third with 94 points.
T.R. Miller’s girls placed second out of 10 teams at sectionals as they finished with 173 points to Bayside Academy’s 202.
W.S. Neal’s girls placed ninth out of 10 teams with five points.
The class 3A state track meet for T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will be held at Selma’s Memorial Stadium Friday and Saturday.
TRM girls:
For the T.R. Miller girls, Brianna Dees placed fourth in the 100-meter finals with a time of 13.54 and took fifth in the 200-meter finals with a time of 28.47. Majestie Walker took fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.83 and Abbie Roberts placed seventh with a time of 1:09.14.
In the 800-meter dash, Karisa Nelson took second with a time of 2:27.61 and Allie Nelson was seventh with a time of 2:38.84. Katie Nelson finished in ninth place with a time of 2:42.48.
In the 1600-meter run, Karisa Nelson finished in first with a time of 5:13.35 while Allie Nelson took fifth with a time of 5:37.60. Katie Nelson came in ninth with a time of 5:50.87.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Lateysia Montgomery finished with a time of 16.50 for second place while Morgan Rowell ran a time of 17.68 for fifth. In the 300-meter hurdles, Montgomery took third with a time of 52.43 and Walker took fifth with a time of 55.32. Rowell was seventh with a time of 56.47.
The Lady Tigers took fourth in the 4×100-meter relay and fourth in the 4×400-meter relay. In the high jump event, Makayla Harrison finished fifth with a jump of 4-8.
In the pole vault, Amber Terry placed second with a jump of 8-6 and Erin Wade was fourth with a vault of 6-6. In the long jump, Montgomery took first with a jump of 16-7.5 while Walker and Harrison was fourth and fifth respectively.
In the triple jump, Montgomery took second and Harrison took third while Dees was 11th. In the shot put, O’Nesha Hall was fifth.
In the discus competition, Lauren Bradley took third with a throw of 88-6. In the javelin throw for the Lady Tigers, Hall took third while Takeysia McFugerson took fifth and Kara Bradley was sixth.
TRM boys:
In the boys 100-meter dash, Dominique Jackson took fifth with a time of 11.73 and Keion Smith was seventh with a time of 12.06. Trae Walker was seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.74.
In the 400-meter dash, Terry Samuel finished sixth. Tobias Ming was 15th in the 400-meter dash while Micah McKinney was 21st.
In the 800-meter run, Rob Stokes took fourth with a time of 2:11.40 and Christian Carlson was ninth. Ryan Snowden finished in 19th place. In the 1600-meter run, Stokes took first with a time of 4:38.38. Dillon Simmons took 16th with a time of 5:38.11.
In the 3200-meter run, Stokes took first and Simmons took 12th. In the 110-meter hurdles, Allen Boyd was second and Ahmad Taylor was third.
In the 300-meter hurdles event, Boyd took third while Taylor and Josh Gunter were sixth and seventh. The Tigers 4×100-meter relay team finished first with a time of 46.29. In the 4×400, T.R. Miller finished fourth with a time of 3:48.45.
In the 4×800 race, T.R. Miller finished second with a time of 9:18.29. In the high jump, David Barragan was third and Caleb Hubbard was seventh. In the pole vault, Bailey Graves was second and Trin Miller was third. Hubbard finished fifth. Ahmad Taylor was fifth in the long jump while Keion Smith and Walker were eighth and ninth.
In the triple jump, Barragan was third followed by Taylor in fifth and Smith in eighth. In the shot put, Darby Black was first with a throw of 42-6. In the discus, Black took first with a throw of 126-10. William Whittle was sixth.
In the javelin, Samuel took second while Whittle was third and Black was sixth.
WSN girls:
For the Lady Eagles, Khadijah Barton took seventh in the long jump with a jump of 13-9.75. In the shot put, Labethany Green was ninth and Corissa Classen was 10th.
Green took sixth in the discus and Breanna Woodcock was ninth. Woodcock was 10th in the javelin and Classen was 11th.
WSN boys:
In the 200-meter dash for the Eagles, Josiah Nettles was second with a time of 23.22. In the 400-meter dash, Nettles took first with a time of 52.29. In the 800-meter run, Chris Dassinger was 22nd and Will Minchew was 25th. In the 1600-meter run, Juan Jiminez finished 17th.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Chance Werthen was third and A.J. Quinn finished fifth. Jacob Southwell was eighth in the 300-meter hurdles while Zack Minchew was 10th and Eric Burgh was 11th.
In the 4×400, W.S. Neal finished fifth with a time of 3:55.57. In the 4×800 race, W.S. Neal finished eighth with a time of 10:03.10.
In the long jump, Gary Likely was second. Jacob Southwell finished 11th. Likely took first in the triple jump with a jump of 42.5. In the shot put, Bryson Peterson was fourth and Mitch Howard was 14th.
In the discus, Peterson finished fifth and Howard was 16th. Southwell was fifth in the javelin.
