Prayer time calls for city, country to “pray”

Using the letters of the word that called for Thursday’s gathering as a guide for the service, area ministers urged a city and a nation to “p-r-a-y” during the National Day of Prayer event in Brewton.

Pray, repent, ask and yield were the messages that were accompanied by prayers in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Brewton.

The Rev. Mike Williams shared a reason to “ask” during his portion of the service calling for Christians and Americans to ask God to bless the country.

“We have not because we ask not,” Williams said. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
