Neal one win from finals

The W.S. Neal Eagle baseball team used a dominating pitching performance from Brian Settle to get a 5-1 win over defending 3A state champion Trinity in game one of the AHSAA state semifinals. WSN improved to 30-0 while he Wildcats fell to 29-8.

Settle went six innings on the mound and allowed two hits, no runs, walked three and struck out nine. Keith Bradley closed the game and allowed one hit, one unearned run and struck out one.

WSN led 1-0 after the second inning before erupting in the third with four runs. Trinity’s lone run came in the bottom of the seventh. The runs in the third for WSN came with two outs.

Settle had a two-run triple in the inning.
