TRM volleyball falls to BA

The T.R. Miller JV and varsity volleyball teams suffered their first losses of the season Monday afternoon at Brewton Middle School as they fell to top-ranked Bayside Academy in an area game.
The loss for the JV team made their record fall to 2-1 while the varsity also fell to 2-1, but started their area season with an 0-1 record.
In JV action, the Lady Tigers lost to Bayside Academy 2-0. The Lady Tigers lost set one 25-18 and set two 25-15.
In set one, Lizzy Pollitte led with eight service points while Grace Ruzic had three. MyKayala Harrison had two kills and two blocks. In set two, Alli Nelson led with five service points while Caitlyn Smith had two.
In the varsity game, T.R. Miller lost 3-0. The Lady Tigers lost set one 25-11, set two 25-7 and set three 25-12.
In set one, Karisa Nelson had three service points and two kills while Amelia Peach had two points and one kill. There were no points in set two.
In set three, Moriah Brundidge had three service points and four assists. Nelson had three points and two assists.
“We made to many mistakes against a very good team,” Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said of the varsity game. “They are a very good hitting team and we gave them too many scoring opportunities. I think we got after it and hustled extremely well but its hard to overcome a large deficit against a team like that.”
A year ago, Bayside Academy’s volleyball team lost two matches in the first few days of the 2012 season and started with a 4-2 record.
