For people who live on Ridge Road — or travel the roadway — getting from home to town may be a little difficult today.

Escambia County Road Department workers are replacing pipes in four locations along the roadway with the first leg of the work being done today.

Bill Bridges, county engineer, said plans are to complete the first project Thursday.

Ridge Road is closed to thru-traffic today with only local traffic allowed beyond the Ridge Road and Schad Street intersection in East Brewton.

The work being done today is in the area near the Ridge Road and Weaver Road intersection. Local traffic can detour around the work area by using Weaver Road to Pineview and back to Ridge Road.

Additional work is planned in the next week near the Ridge Road and U.S. 29 intersection in the Shady Grove lane area, Bridges said.
