Karen brings WKRG back for DISH customers

Local DISH customers will get access to broadcasts from WKRG in Mobile/Pensacola thanks to a temporary agreement between Media General and DISH in the face of Tropical Storm Karen.

The station, among other Media General properties, had been blocked from DISH because of a failure to agree on a retransmission contract.

“We are pleased Media General broke its silence and agreed with our request to serve viewers,” said Dave Shull, DISH executive vice president. “While this permission is limited to four markets for two days, this is a productive outcome for viewers who rely on their local news the most.”

The stations in the following markets will be available to DISH customers startingSaturday 6 a.m. CDT through 12:01 a.m. Monday:

· Birmingham, Ala. – WVTM (NBC, channel 13)
· Hattiesburg, Miss. – WHLT (CBS, channel 22)
· Jackson, Miss. – WJTV (CBS, channel 12)
· Mobile, Ala./Pensacola, Fla. – WKRG (CBS, channel 5)
