After dismantling the Excel Panthers Friday night in a 46-8 homecoming win, the W.S. Neal Eagles will have a little different test this Friday night as they will travel to take on the Bayside Academy Admirals.
“We finished with 504 yards rushing,” W.S. Neal head coach Doug Hoehn said of the win over Excel Friday night. “On the offensive line, Eddie Murphy, Khadarrius Taylor and Orlando Smith played really well for us. Defensively, Michael Williams had seven tackles with one for a loss and two sacks. TyAnthony Alexander had seven tackles while Malcolm Hawthorne had six. Trey Taylor finished with four tackles, an interception and a pass breakup.”
Bayside Academy is 2-4 overall this year and is 2-2 in region play. Bayside lost to Straughn Friday night in Straughn 40-22.
W.S. Neal is 1-0 overall against the Admirals after winning the only meeting between the teams last year 44-42 in East Brewton.
“They are a good football team,” Hoehn said of the Admirals. “They have a good quarterback, a good running back and a good wide receiver. All the kids play hard and they are well-coached. They have played a tough schedule. They are the best 2-4 team I have ever seen. Their record does not reflect how good they are. All their losses have come to teams ranked in the top-three of their division (Charles Henderson and UMS-Wright in 4A, T.R. Miller and Straughn in 3A). It is going to be a big challenge for us. They also have a very good kicker and a very good punter.” Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Bayside Academy.
