NYF teams headed to playoffs

On Saturday, October 19, Neal Youth Football’s (NYF) Juniors (10U) and Seniors (12U) traveled to Jay for their end of season game. Both teams needed a win to have any shot to advance to the playoffs.
The Junior team played the undefeated and already crowned Eastern Division Champions and came away with a 14-6 win.
Jordan Sims scored Neal’s first touchdown on a 42-yard and also ran in the extra point to put Neal up 7-0 early. Later in the game, Taylor Watson scored on a 54-yard run. A pass from Samuel Bosarge to Tyler Brooks gave Neal a 14-0 lead.
Jay finally scored with 2:26 left in the 4th fourth quarter, but Neal earned the win.
On offense for Neal, Taylor Watson had two carries for 56 yards and one touchdown while Bosarge had five carries for 53 yards. Brooks had three carries for 42 yards and Sims had 12 carries for 129 yards and one touchdown.
Neal Had 280 yards total offense and limited Jay to 97 yards on the ground and 21 yards in the air.
With the win the Junior team placed itself in the drivers seat for a play-off berth and had to travel to Flomaton for a Kansas Tiebreaker format on Monday.
Neal’s Senior Team lost a heart breaker to Jay in a hard fought game
Monday tiebreaker game:
On Monday, Neal took down Flomaton to make the playoffs as they earned the tiebreaker win.
In the tiebreaker format, both teams get the ball on the 10-yard line and have four downs to score.
Neal’s Junior team took the field on defense first after losing the coin toss.
Neal’s Defense held strong on first down by no giving up a yard then on the second down Flomaton player was tackled after a 2-yard gain. On third down the defense held strong again tackling the hurricanes for a 4-yard loss. Then on 4th down, middle linebacker Dustin Godwin made the tackle for a 7-yard loss.
Neal’s offense then took the field and Samuel Bosarge ran six yards before he was tackled to setup a second and goal from the 4-yard line.
Jordan Sims then took the ball into the end zone for the score, with the win Neal’s Junior team advances to the playoffs.

Sophomores (8U), Neal vs. Poarch, 3:30 p.m. at Baker
