TRM hosting Dixieland Band Showcase Saturday

The annual Dixieland Band Showcase, sponsored by the T.R. Miller High School Band Boosters, will be held Saturday, Oct. 26 at Brewton Municipal Stadium. The Showcase is set to begin with the first band performing at 2:10 p.m.

“This year’s marching band competition will host 11 high school bands from Alabama and Florida,” T.R. Miller band director Lance Gainous said.

“There will also be featured exhibition performances from the Brewton Middle School Band, Brewton Dance Studio’s Twirlstars, the T.R. Miller High School Band and the University of Mobile ‘RamCorps.’ Come out and support this great community event.”

After having the festival for several years, in recent years the festival was rained out and the contest was canceled for various reasons, and then it was finally suspended. Gainous started the festival back in 2011.
