Mildred Ione Bethea Boutwell

Mrs. Mildred Ione Bethea Boutwell, 86, of Flomaton died at her residence on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013.

She was a native of Century, Fla., but had been a member of the Flomaton community most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Flomaton First Baptist Church where she was on the Bereavement Committee. She was also active in the First United Methodist Church of Flomaton where she served on many committees, and as M.Y.F. Leader, taught Sunday school and was a devoted church and choir member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Estelle Sturdivant Nelson; a brother, George Albert Nelson; her first husband, Thomas Rabun Bethea, Sr.; and a grandson, Brandon Christopher Agerton.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. Herbert C. Boutwell, Jr. of Flomaton; two sons, Travis Kent (Peyton) Bethea of Brewton and Thomas Rabun Bethea, Jr. of Flomaton; four daughters, Lois Katherine (Kenneth) White of Atmore, Darla Nette ‘Totsie’ (Clifton) Mims of Atmore, Jodi (Jimmy) Broach of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Geneva Dawn (Ken) Cooper of Atmore; one brother, Arthur Ray Nelson of Foley, Ala.; one sister, Geneva Feltman of Lexington, S.C.; five step-sons, Herbert Chauncey (Brenda) Boutwell, III of Pensacola, Fla.; Joseph Phillip (Rhonda) Boutwell of Pensacola, Fla., John Tilton Boutwell of Pensacola, Fla., Timothy Wayne (Connie) Boutwell of White Hall, Ark., Benjamin Daniel (Cheryl) Boutwell of Century, Fla.; one step-daughter, Mary Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ (Dean) Wilkerson of Bonaire, Ga.; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Flomaton with the Rev. Dustin Stockstill and Dr. Jerry Keese officiating. Burial followed in Flomaton Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.
