TRM girls and boys drop games Saturday in Jackson to go winless in Christmas tourney

Both the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers and varsity Tigers went 0-2 in their tournament games in the DeMarquis Besteda Christmas Tournament in Jackson as they took losses Saturday to the host Aggies.
The Lady Tigers lost 37-26 to fall to 2-10 overall this season while the varsity boys lost 64-60 to drop to 4-6 overall.
T.R. Miller’s boys and girls will be back in action Friday, Jan. 3, when they travel to Cottage Hill for an area game. The T.R. Miller B-team will also be back in action Friday.
Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. in Mobile.

Jackson 37, TRM Lady Tigers 26
The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers suffered their third straight loss and second in the Jackson tournament Saturday as they took a 37-26 loss to Jackson.
Steely Ruzic led the Lady Tigers with 12 points while Mekhia Williams finished with six. Akilah Brazile chipped in four points while Destiny Washington and Kyla Bell had two points each.
Jackson led T.R. Miller 12-4 after one quarter and 21-10 at the halftime break. The Lady Tigers cut into the Jackson lead in the third quarter when they outscored the Lady Aggies 12-7 to trail 28-22 heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, Jackson outscored T.R. Miller 9-4 to get the win by 11 points.

Jackson 64, TRM varsity boys 60
Despite having Trae Walker lead the way with 21 points and Chardian Johnson finishing with 18, the T.R. Miller varsity Tigers dropped their final game of the Jackson tournament as they lost to the host Aggies 64-60.
The Aggies scored 22 points in the third quarter to break a 25-25 halftime tie to help propel them to the win. T.R. Miler led Jackson 15-11 after one quarter of play but was outscored 14-10 in the second quarter to see the game get tied at 25-all at the halftime break.
From there, Jackson outscored T.R. Miller 22-16 in the third quarter to take a 47-41 lead. In the fourth, T.R. Miller rallied with a 19-17 scoring advantage, but took the loss by four points.
Along with Walker’s 21 and Johnson’s 18, Shawn Tolbert added six points, Jalen Jones added five, Dominique Jackson added four, and Caden Lodge, Michael Woods and Trin Miller all had two points each in the loss.
