County baseball tourney set for Thursday at TRM; TRM softball to host tourney also

All four high school baseball teams in Escambia County will converge to T.R. Miller High School next week for the annual Escambia County baseball tournament.
The 2014 version of the Escambia County Tournament will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Brewton.
Flomaton and Escambia County will join W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller in the tournament.
The tournament will begin Thursday with T.R. Miller and Escambia County playing at 4 p.m. and W.S. Neal and Flomaton playing at 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, Escambia County and W.S. Neal will begin play at 4 p.m. followed by Flomaton and T.R. Miller at 6:30 p.m.
Flomaton and Escambia County will play each other at 11 a.m. Saturday morning to start things off followed by T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal at 1:30 p.m.
The team listed last will be the home team Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, teams will flip for the home team.
If there is a tie for first place, the tie breaker will be the fewest runs allowed/most runs scored.
W.S. Neal won the tournament last year in Flomaton.
Game day passes will be sold in advance at T.R. Miller High School and Thursday at the gate for $12 for the three-day tourney.

TRM softball Invitational
The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger and W.S. Neal Lady Eagle softball teams will play in the T.R. Miller Invitational Friday and Saturday, February 28 and March 1, in Brewton at the YMCA Sports Park. A total of eight teams will play in the tournament.
T.R. Miller will be in pool A with Hillcrest, McGill-Toolen and Davidson while W.S. Neal will be in pool B with J.U. Blacksher, Escambia County and Northview.
Pool A will play on field D at the YMCA Sports Park while pool B will play on field A.
The tournament will begin on Friday, at 4 p.m., and will T.R. Miller will play Hillcrest on Field D while W.S. Neal will play Escambia County on Field A.
At 5:15 p.m., McGill-Toolen will play Davidson on Field D while J.U. Blacksher and Northview will play on Field A. At 6:30 p.m., McGill-Toolen and T.R. Miller will play on Field D while W.S. Neal and J.U. Blacksher will play on Field A. At 7:45 p.m., Davidson and Hillcrest will play to end day one while Northview and Escambia County will play on Field A.
The tournament will resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. when T.R. Miller will play Davidson on field D and Northview will take on W.S. Neal on field A.
At 10:15 a.m., Hillcrest and McGill-Toolen will play on Field D while Escambia County and J.U. Blacksher will tangle on Field A.
Following an 11:30 a.m. to noon lunch break, the single elimination tournament will begin at noon.
At noon, the No. 1 seed from pool A will play the No. 4 seed from pool B while the No. 1 seed from pool B will play the No. 4 seed from pool A.
At 1:15 p.m., the No. 2 seed from pool B will play the No. 3 seed from pool A while the No. 2 seed from pool A will take on the No. 3 seed from pool B.
All winners will advance to play at 2:30 p.m. with winners from that game playing for the tournament championship at 4 p.m.
All teams are guaranteed four games and trophies will be presented to the first and second place team.
