Escambia County baseball tourney: TRM and WSN start 1-0

While the weather turned off cold Thursday and got colder as the day went on, the bats were hot for the T.R. Miller Tiger and W.S. Neal Eagle baseball teams in the first day of the Escambia County Tournament in Brewton.
In game one Thursday, T.R. Miller defeated Escambia County 13-2 to start the tournament 1-0 and improve to 2-0 this season. The Tigers had 12 hits in the six inning win.
In game two, W.S. Neal took down Flomaton 16-3 to start the tournament 1-0 and improve to 4-0 this season.
The Eagles of East Brewton pounded out 14 hits in their five inning win.
Both teams will be back in action Friday and Saturday in the tournament.
On Friday, W.S. Neal was scheduled to play Atmore at 4 p.m. while T.R. Miller and Flomaton were to meet at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Flomaton and Atmore will meet at 11 a.m. while T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will meet in the final game of the tournament at 1:30 p.m.

TRM 13, Atmore 2
The T.R. Miller Tigers pounded out 12 hits and scored 13 runs while holding Atmore to two hits and two runs to get a 13-2 win over the Blue Devils.
The game was close early on as the game was tied 1-1 after the first inning. T.R. Miller took a 2-1 lead in the second and a 3-2 lead after four inning.
From there, T.R. Miller scored 10 unanswered with three coming in the fifth inning and seven coming in the sixth inning.
Joshua Winton earned the win on the mound for T.R. Miller as he went the first three innings and allowed no hits, one run, walked two, hit one and struck out five.
Austin Holmes went the next two innings and allowed two hits, one run, walked one and struck out four. Caleb Winton went the final inning and walked three while striking out two.
T.R. Miller was led at the plate by Jones Manning and Caden Lodge. Manning had two singles and a double and one RBI while Lodge added a single, a double and a triple and one RBI.
Tripp Floyd added a double while Hunter Brittain had a single and one RBI. Drew Williamson had a single and a double and one RBI for the Tigers while Zac Griffin chipped in a single and one RBI.
Ryann Gray added a single and one RBI for T.R. Miller.
For Atmore, Matthew Quimby and Wesley Jefferson had the lone hits.
Ricky Reed took the loss on the mound going 4 1/3 innings and allowed six hits, five runs, walked and hit two and struck out four.
Tyler Weaver went 2/3 innings and allowed one hit, one run, and walked one.
Gage White went the final inning and allowed five hits, seven runs, walked two and struck out and hit one.

WSN 16, Flomaton 3
W.S. Neal pounded out 14 hits and scored nine runs in the second inning to propel them to a 16-3 over Flomaton Thursday.
Along with nine runs in the second inning, W.S. Neal added two in the first, four in the third and one in the fifth while holding Flomaton to all three of their runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Tyler Joyner, Dalton Shell and Taylor Elliott all pitched for W.S. Neal in the win.
Joyner went the first two innings and allowed one hit, one walk and struck out two.
Shell went two innings and allowed no hits, walked three and struck out one.
Elliott went the final inning and allowed two hits, three runs, walked and struck out one.
At the plate for the Eagles of East Brewton, Malcolm Hawthorne had two singles, a triple and one RBI while Derrick Barton had a single.
Elliott added a double and a single and two RBIs while Joyner added two singles, a double and two RBIs. Jared Cooper had an RBI in the win.
Mike Williams chipped in a single and one RBI while Brandon Carmichael had a double, Lane Chavers had a single and one RBI, Robin Swift had a double and one RBI and Dakota Graves had a single.
