Relay to kick off at noon Saturday

Relay for Life teams are gearing up to be ready to walk Saturday when opening ceremonies begin at noon for the 2014 event.

Set on the campus of the Greater Brewton Area YMCA on Belleville Avenue, the opening ceremonies will commence at noon followed by the annual surviver’s lap at 12:30 p.m.

Games and events will be held throughout the day including those the public can be involved in along with Relay team members.

Highlights for the day will include the infamous Womanless Beauty Pageant set for  4:30 p.m. and the Relay Idol competition at 6 p.m.

Luminaria will be lit at 8 p.m. and will honor those who are fighting the battle against cancer and in memory of those who have lost the battle.

All events and presentations including games are open to the public. Several teams will also be offering drinks and snacks for sale at campsites to continue the effort of raising funds for the American Cancer Society.

Noon — Opening Ceremony
12:30— Survivor Lap
1:00 — Sun Protection Lap
1:15— Frozen T-shirt game
1:45— Duck Season Lap
2:00— Mattress Race
2:30— Tailgating/Football Lap
2:45— Dance Party!!!
3:15— 80’s Lap
3:45— Game – TBA
4:30— Womanless Beauty Pageant
5:00 — Couples Lap
5:15 — Scavenger Hunt
5:45 — 60’s Lap
6:00— Relay Idol
6:30— Season Lap (spring, summer, fall, winter)
7:00— Zumba with Jillian Jordan
7:30— Pajama Lap
8:00— Luminaria Ceremony
8:30— Awards & Wrap-up
