WSNMS baseball sweeps Excel to end season

W.S. Neal Middle School’s baseball team ended their season Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep of the Excel Panthers. W.S. Neal won game one 16-4 and game two 9-4 to finish their season with an 11-2 win.
In game one against Excel, W.S. Neal scored nine runs in the first inning and seven in the fifth to help them get the 12-run win. Excel scored all four of their runs in the third inning.
Matt Hutchins earned the win on the mound for the Eagles as he went three innings and allowed four runs, four hits, walked one and struck out three. Of the four runs allowed, only two were earned.
Weston Riddle went the final two innings and allowed no runs, two hits, walked one and struck out three.
At the plate, Jacobey Hawthorne had two hits with one being a double, five RBIs and scored three runs. Kristian Taylor added two hits, four RBIs and scored two runs while Brandon Moye had two hits, one double, four RBIs and scored two runs. Tyler Pierce finished with two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs.
Connor Huskey, P.J. Lovelace, Hunter Revel and Riddle all had one hit each.
In game two, W.S. Neal held Excel to two runs each in the second and fourth innings while scoring five of their own in the second and four in the fourth to get the five-run win.
Hawthorne had two hits, one double, two runs and had four RBIs while Huskey had one double, two runs and had three RBIs.
Hutchins added one hit, one RBI and scored one run. Moye and Revel both added a double each.
Moye earned the win on the mound and went four innings and allowed four runs, two earned, four hits, struck out three and walked two.
Hawthorne went one inning and struck out two.
