Let’s Choo Choo

There’s still time to get onboard and participate in the opening day of Brewton’s Choo-Choo Farmer’s Market Saturday in Jennings Park.
Connie Baggett, the city’s director of program management, said described the market as a “fast-growing operation.”
“And we are always looking for more people to bring produce as that is the centerpiece,” Baggett said. “We have some of the most beautiful fresh fruit and vegetables I have ever seen anywhere and we want to keep expanding that.
“We also have a great bunch of arts and crafts vendors and value added products like jams, jellies and baked goods,” she said. “This year we have many local organizations joining us with plant sales, casseroles and too many goodies to list.”
Baggett said the day will feature live music and children’s activities from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday.
“The market really gives people a chance to visit with each other, as well as a good taste of what Brewton is all about,” she said.
A vendor meeting held lasts weekend gave those interested a “taste” of what’s to come.
“(These farmers and vendors) are an amazing bunch,” Baggett said. “It’s really like family, and we look out for each other, as well as talk about ways to make the market better.
“As an added bonus, vendors can participate this weekend for free, just to see how they like the market,” Baggett said. “If last year was any indication, they will be back.”
Vendors can participate for free at the first market day but should come by City Hall to claim a space prior to April 5. For more information, call 251.809.1777.
